In the past few years, CarbonFund.org has devised its CarbonFree Certification program as a way to advocate products that employ eco-friendly designs. The latest to be certified is the Motorola MOTO W388 Renew+ cell phone, which packs the technology users want and need in an eco-friendly package.
Available in Canada, the W388 contains no polyvinyl chloride or brominated flame retardants. Instead, the phone’s body is made from recycled plastic originally used in water bottles. The W388 also comes with an energy-efficient charger that allows for up to nine hours of gabbing before a recharge is required. Users looking to play games and listen to tunes have 2GB of external storage capacity, along with 7.5MB of onboard storage to fill with text messages and other media, such as pics snapped with the device’s 4x-zoom camera.
