JVC went against the expensive “active-shutter” trend at CES with a series of 3D TVs that use the same basic polarization technique that RealD has developed for movie theaters.
Using something called Xpol polarizing filters, the JVC GD-463D10 is able to polarize 3D images line-by-line, essentially interlacing the left polarized image with the right one. When you put on your cheap polarized 3D glasses, your brain blends the two interlaced 2D images together and you see a single 3D image.
Could this be the future of home 3D glasses? Let the competitive 3DTV games begin.
