Just watching the unveiling of the new iPad at Steve Job’s big reveal event. It’s a real thing of beauty. The interface looks like a giant iPhone, but there are way more functions, including Kindle-like e-book reader. The music player is also very similar to the iPhone’s, but also very similar to actual iTunes.

.5 inches thin, 1.5 pounds — 9.7 inch IPS display - and here’s the green spin: Arsenic-free, BFR-free, Mercury-free, PVC-free, and highly recyclable. And a claimed 10 hours of battery life - we’ll need to see that to believe it!

Check back later today for new info, and hopefully a price point for this new, must-have product from Apple.

UPDATE: Full pricing: The 16GB, Wi-Fi-only version costs $500, while the 32GB is $600 and 64GB is $700. Pricing increases by $130 to add 3G. The Wi-Fi-only models ship in 60 days, while 3G models will ship in 90.

Of the many questions the world will have about the latest product from Apple, we hope that one of them is this - is the new Apple Tablet (rumored to be called the iPad) any more energy efficient? Technology is improving, so we hope that Apple has taken the high road, and will do their best to ensure energy efficiency on all upcoming products.

In its latest products, Apple has phased out the use of PVC plastic and hazardous brominated flame retardants, so it would be a real surprise if they didn’t continue this policy with any of their new hardware.

Let’s compare with an already available product. Amazon’s Kindle, for example, uses E Ink technology, which is significantly more power-efficient than an LCD screen.

Casey Harrell, from Greenpeace’s global electronics campaign has said that half of the energy in an electronics product comes from the supply chain of companies that supply Apple or other manufacturers. “A tablet can certainly mark a decrease in the environmental footprint versus traditional printing, but the big question is, what energy is powering these data centers in the cloud?”

Good questions. We’ll see if Mr. Jobs has the right answers.

Using something called Xpol polarizing filters, the JVC GD-463D10 is able to polarize 3D images line-by-line, essentially interlacing the left polarized image with the right one. When you put on your cheap polarized 3D glasses, your brain blends the two interlaced 2D images together and you see a single 3D image.

Could this be the future of home 3D glasses? Let the competitive 3DTV games begin.

Panasonic was showing off its upcoming range of 3D plasma screens at CES 2010. For the company, this year’s CES is all about 3D, with Panasonic pushing the fact that it has an entire 3D eco system on the make – from camera to television. The question on everyone’s mind is - what 3D TV will look like?

According to reports from the geeks at CES 2010 - it looks pretty damn good. Soon available in 50, 55 and 60-inch versions, the VT25 3DTV is a great-looking TV and one which takes over from the V10 range of last year.

Built around Panasonic’s Full HD 3D proprietary technology, the 3D glasses that Panasonic was using were active shutter and compete well with RealD’s glasses, which have been picked up by Sony.

Recent rumors suggest that Sony is preparing to launch a 3D TV channel in partnership with IMAX and the Discovery group this news follows the announcement that Disney owned ESPN, will be launching a 3DTV channel in time for this year’s World Cup.

Sony have stated recently that at least 50% of all their new TVs will be 3D in the next couple of years so it makes sense that they look to provide 3D content to help ensure all these TVs aren’t left on store’s shelves.

Sony has predicted that an “explosion” in demand for 3D home entertainment products will not happen until 2012, despite growing interest in the technology.

According to analysis firm DisplaySearch, the 3D TV market will be worth $1.1 billion in 2010, but then grow significantly to reach $15.8 billion by 2015.

Google has unveiled its highly anticipated “Google Phone,” or the Nexus One, an Android-powered smartphone and the first device the company will sell directly from a new online store.

At a Google press event held Tuesday afternoon at the company’s Mountain View, Calif. headquarters, Google vice president Mario Queiroz billed the new Nexus One as a “superphone” and an “exemplar of what’s possible” on mobile phones running Android.

The Nexus One is a slim touch-screen slab handset manufactured by HTC, the company behind the original T-Mobile G1, the myTouch 3G with Google, and the HTC Hero. The Nexus One weighs 4.6 ounces and measures 0.45-inches thick. It features a 3.7-inch, 480-by-800-pixel glass capacitive AMOLED touch screen, a next-generation 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, and Android 2.1, a brand new version of the company’s open-source mobile OS.

Other hardware features include a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with an LED flash and geotagging capability, 512MB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot. Two mics provide Bluetooth headset-like active noise cancellation for improved call quality in loud environments. The trackball doubles as a notification tool, Queiroz said, in that it contains a multi-color LED for indicating incoming calls and other notifications. A 3.5-mm headphone jack and stereo Bluetooth support offer music lovers multiple options for listening to tunes.
