There has been heap of buzz surrounding this new-fangled 3D TV technology that was making the rounds at CES 2010 by manufacturers such as LG, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba and Panasonic. According to some recent consumer study, one in four consumers surveyed by the CEA saying they plan to buy a 3D TV within the next three years.

ESPN plans to roll the first official 3D sports network on June 11, and consumers are predicted to spend $17 billion on 3D TVs in 2018, again, according to the scientist types at research firm DisplaySearch.

We have yet to hear about these new TV’s and how they compare to regular TV’s – in regards to energy consumption – but we will be watching this new technology as it unfolds.

The latest word is that the competition will really heat up between manufacturers trying to come up with 3D tvs that don’t require 3D glasses. That’ll be when things really start to change in the industry.
